The first visit after leaving Bangkok could be Damnoen Saduak, i’s actually the name of the canal dug in the reign of King Rama IV. He had the canal dug to connect the Taachin River in Samutsakorn Province and Maeklong River in Samutsongkram Province together. Nowadays, most people live along both sides of the canal from one end of the canal to another. They grow different kinds of fruit and vegetables. Watch the bustling activity on the crowded canals of boats loaded with fresh local fruits, try some Thai noodle soup and make a boat trip around the market and the surrounding canals, providing many photo opportunities. The floating market of Damnoen Saduak is known all over the world from movies it featured in such as a classic James Bond movie and more recently “Bangkok dangerous” with Nicolas Cage. This trip will give you a good idea of a traditional market setting and a view of a Thai market as it used to be a long time ago.
Locals are often referred to the market as as Talad Rom Hoop (Talad is market, Rom is umbrella and Hoop is folding). Located in the city of Maeklong district in Samut Songkram province. This market is not the same as other markets, there is the train run through the middle of the market. The vendors will know the time when the train to the platform or run through the middle of the market. They would have to preserve the products or goods, folding the umbrellas and store awnings to avoid the train. After the train passed, if you look back at the stores are like a magic because the vendors immediately, put the awnings back into their original places. Everyone went back to normal as if nothing extraordinary had ever happened and it is hard to believe the train to run through the tracks, that is located of the market. That is why the market is locally known as the Talat Rom Hoop which translates into ‘The Folding Umbrella Market’.
The hotel dates back to the time when Hua Hin itself was evolving into Thailand’s first beach resort. The beauty of Hua Hin was noted by the engineers surveying the southern railway route in 1909. Land was set aside for a station, and when the first section of the line opened in 1911, Hua Hin became a destination where wealthy Bangkok residents built their holiday homes. Mr. A. Rigazai, the State Railways’ Italian architect, designed the original building as a luxurious two-storey European-style resort hotel made of brick and wood, in accordance with royal command. The hotel opened in October 1922.By 1928 the hotel’s reputation was international and, in order to accommodate the growing number of visitors to Hua Hin. After WW II two more guestrooms were added, along with three restaurants, a downstairs bar, and a lobby with a panoramic view of Hua Hin’s bay. In 1988, the hotel was purchased by Sofitel and became the Hotel Sofitel Central Hua Hin. As of September 2014 it is run by the Central Plaza Group and named the Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Hua Hin.
Ban Krut is a beautiful little quaint town filled with miles and miles of clean golden beaches that are barely used other than by the local fisherman. We were told by one local that it is one of few beach destinations that has perfect feng shui in terms of its layout. Whether this is true or not we don’t know but it certainly has a great feel about the place and is loved by all that visit. You can stand in the middle of Baan Krut Beach and when you look right, there is an empty beach as far as you can see and when you look left there is more empty beach which is only interrupted by the much loved Golden Buddha and Wat Thang Sai Temple that sits up on the Thong Chai Mountain overlooking the town.
In the South of Krabi in the province of Klong Thom District are nature’s own hot-tub jazuzzis. The water here comes from thermal springs originating deep underground in volcanic chambers. Located in the jungle, this site features naturally hollowed-out ‘bathtubs’ in the smooth stone, filled to the brim with fresh running spring water at a pleasant 35 – 40 degrees Celsius. After a soak, take a refreshing dip in the cool river below. Water from the hot springs flows through the rocks into larger man- bathing pools on the same site and basic changing facilities are now available for visitors. The mineral salts contained in the hot spring water are said to ease a number of ailments, including rheumatism, sciatica and skin complaints.
A visit to the Hot Springs would not be complete without a trip to the nearby Emerald Pool, this is an astonishingly hued and large natural pool that is filled with pure spring water. The pool is reached via a network of trails through the Khao Nor Chu Chi forest (the longest of which is 1.2 km (no climbing required), which offer a glimpse into a unique aquatic ecosystem, fed by the area’s abundant spring water.
Koh Hai – A “Pearl” in the Andaman Sea
sometimes referred to as “Koh Ngai”, the island is a district in Krabi Province, but actually it can better be reached via Trang on the Southern Andaman Coast. Like many other coastal destinations in Southern Thailand, it is known for its diving and long white beaches.

Mountainous and covered by tropical forest, much of the coastline is indented with rocky headlands, while the eastern part has some beautiful sand beaches, and in the south coconut plantations and more beautiful smaller beaches. The island has a white beach and clear water and is surrounded by magnificent corals.
Don’t be surprised to see crab-eating monkeys and monitor lizards coming down from the mountains. In the uninhabited western and northern parts of the island, bird watchers should have a field day looking out for migrating birds. Snorkelling is easy along the western and southern coasts, where some reefs can be accessed directly from the beach.

Phang Nga Bay is one of the most beautiful bays of Thailand. It is famous for its gravity-defying limestone formations. Most travelers visit Koh Khao Phing Kan, that since 1974, when it was featured in the James Bond film The Man with the Golden Gun, has been popularly called James Bond Island. In front of it is Koh Tapu, probably the most characteristic islet of the bay and often seen on tourist brochures.
